Here it is! My favorite Amazon Product (and I'm sure you have heard about it).
If you already have it, well keep reading because I have so much useful content packed into this post.
Today I'm going to be talking about the Echo Dot. This is a voice-controlled speaker that can play music, control other home smart devices, make phone calls, set timers and alarms (hello kitchen timer and morning alarm clock), and so much more!
This device links to Amazon Music, so if you have Prime then you can stream thousands of free songs, albums, and stations. If you aren't an Amazon Prime member, not to worry because you can also stream Spotify, Pandora, iHeartRadio, and SiriusXM.
The next great feature is you can connect this to other speakers in your home. So if you have a soundbar connected to your tv, you have the option of connecting it to it. This can be done via Bluetooth or an audio cable.
This device also connects to your DIRECTV box (Genie HR44 and HR54), so you can control it with voice commands. You can ask it to change the channel, find and record your favorite movie or tv show, and control the playback for all your favorite content. Pause, play, fast forward, and rewind super easily. Am I the only one that loses the remote control constantly?! Honestly though, I think it has legs some days! Drop a comment below if I'm not the only one!
This is how I use it daily-
Wakes me up with the alarm clock. I ask what the weather is like for the day. Then right away I like to know how long my morning commute will take. I normally turn on a good podcast (AnyPod), and listen to it while making breakfast and while I get ready.
Once I get home from work, I ask for a rundown of the latest news happening around the world (BBC News). Then somedays I call my mom from it, it's a great way to talk on the phone while making dinner. Speaking of dinner, I set all my kitchen timers with it. Chances are I'm listening to Amazon Music while in the kitchen too. I know, lots going on!
Lastly, here are the misc. features I use-
Along with what I listed above, I listen to books using the Kindle feature, play Jeopardy with my family, play Question of the Day (super fun) and Twenty Questions when I want to have an extra challenge, Would You Rather for Family, Heads Up!, Guess the Song, and so many more! You can find them for yourself by hitting the drop-down menu on the left side of the screen and select Skills & Games.
Personally, I used this device almost daily but when I host gatherings at my house it's so much fun watching everyone interact with it! And it's so easy. This alone had me sold.
Right now it's on sale, so make sure you get the discounted price HERE.
Lastly just as a quick note- If you haven't already signed up for Amazon Prime, I would really encourage you to give it a shot. It's free for the first month, and you get tons of member perks like free TV shows and movies, access to a music library with unlimited streaming (goodbye Pandora and IHeartRadio), unlimited photo storage, and of course free 2-day shipping on most products. If you have any questions about Prime, simply leave me a comment below so we can chat! I'll answer any questions you may have.
